چکیده

We present a benchmark of the density functional linear response calculation of NMR shieldings within the gauge-including projector-augmented-wave method against all-electron augmented-plane-wave+local-orbital and uncontracted Gaussian basis set results for NMR shieldings in molecular and solid state systems. In general, excellent agreement between the aforementioned methods is obtained. Scalar relativistic effects are shown to be quite large for nuclei in molecules in the deshielded limit. The small component makes up a substantial part of the relativistic corrections.

NMR parameters in alkali, alkaline earth and rare earth fluorides from first principle calculations.

(19)F isotropic chemical shifts for alkali, alkaline earth and rare earth of column 3 basic fluorides are measured and the corresponding isotropic chemical shieldings are calculated using the GIPAW method. When using the PBE exchange-correlation functional for the treatment of the cationic localized empty orbitals of Ca(2+), Sc(3+) (3d) and La(3+) (4f), a correction is needed to accurately calc...

Density functional calculations of nuclear magnetic shieldings using the zeroth-order regular approximation „ZORA... for relativistic effects: ZORA nuclear magnetic resonance

We present a new relativistic formulation for the calculation of nuclear magnetic resonance ~NMR! shielding tensors. The formulation makes use of gauge-including atomic orbitals and is based on density functional theory. The relativistic effects are included by making use of the zeroth-order regular approximation. This formulation has been implemented and the Hg NMR shifts of HgMe2 , HgMeCN, Hg...

Spin–orbit corrections to NMR shielding constants from density functional theory. How important are the two-electron terms?

Ž . Ž . A recently developed density functional theory DFT ansatz for the calculation of one-electron spin–orbit SO corrections to NMR chemical shifts has been extended to include two-electron SO operators. The performance of different approximations is evaluated in calculations of H and C nuclear shieldings in the hydrogen halides, the halomethanes, and in iodobenzene. Two-electron contributio...

Solid State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

In 2001, Mauri and Pickard introduced the gauge including projected augmented wave (GIPAW) method that enabled for the first time the calculation of all-electron NMR parameters in solids, i.e. accounting for periodic boundary conditions. The GIPAW method roots in the plane wave pseudopotential formalism of the density functional theory (DFT), and avoids the use of the cluster approximation. Thi...

Calculation of nuclear magnetic resonance shieldings using frozen-density embedding.

We have extended the frozen-density embedding (FDE) scheme within density-functional theory [T. A. Wesolowski and A. Warshel, J. Phys. Chem. 97, 8050 (1993)] to include external magnetic fields and applied this extension to the nonrelativistic calculation of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) shieldings. This leads to a formulation in which the electron density and the induced current are calcula...
